We build a meditation practice, not to live better lives, but to live our lives better.
What if all our striving to make our lives (our income, our stuff, our bodies, our accomplishments) better was just making things worse? Would you like to explore new ways to become more present to your experience, and more balanced in your life?
At the beginning of his teaching, Buddha shared the amazing insight that suffering was caused by our very attempts to make things better. Lucky for us, he (and many others) also taught ways to recognize and address the source of the problem.
In this eight-week course you will learn and practice several meditation techniques designed to help you develop the awareness and compassion to become more present to your life as it is. Each 90-minute class will include teaching, practice, questions and discussion, designed to help the beginner as well as meditators with some experience develop a practical personalized approach.
Come prepared to learn, to try new things, and to share your experience. Come to reconnect with your existing practice, or start fresh. No previous meditation experience is required. You may sit on the floor (cushions provided) or on a chair, your choice.
The class will be held in a studio at Yuri’s Village, a beautiful oasis of health and learning at Greenwood and Danforth Avenues, just steps from the Greenwood subway stop. Parking is available on neighbourhood streets nearby.
